Role Overview

The Fluid Systems Test Engineer is mid-level position in the power generation sector, focused on designing upgrades for gas turbine auxiliary systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with skills in the industrial process, equipment, piping, commissioning, controls, and project engineering. In this multifaceted position, you'll work autonomously on regular assignments and undertake progressively challenging tasks. Your scope of work will include support of existing systems, design modifications, and quality review to verify compliance of operating requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities  

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership.
  • Design and develop auxiliary systems for combustion gas turbines, adhering to established standard operating procedures for natural gas, oil, air, hydrogen, steam, and water for both Mitsubishi and Non-OEM units.
  • Conduct design work for feasibility, assist in detailed engineering studies and help with standardizing products for efficient deployment.
  • Specify design requirements for vendors to quote and supply components (pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, skids, instrumentation, pipe supports etc.) that are in code compliance with contract and internal requirements.
  • Perform both process and piping engineering calculations and documentation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of gas turbines specific to turbine configuration, gas turbine design, boundary conditions, temperature and materials.
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement and construction projects and contracts.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the following Engineering Fields: Chemical, Mechanical, Aerospace.  
  • 4+ years of previous experience in fluid systems engineering.
  • Experience with electrical components in conformance with NEC (National Electric Code)
  • Experience with design and development of fluid systems from process flow diagrams and P&ID creation using SmartPlant P&ID solutions or equivalent software such as: (AutoCAD).
  • Create and conduct flow network analysis around fluids (Compressible/Non-Compressible) working with AFT Arrow or AFT Fathom software tools.
  • Experience with 3D Pipe Modeling using PDS, PDMS, SP3D, or Creo Piping and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience with testing and commissioning piping systems (pressure testing, NDE) and equipment like motors (AC, DC, VFD), blowers, pumps, control valves (hydraulic, pneumatic, electric actuation)
  • Experience with software solutions such as WindChill or DOORS for product life cycle and revision management.
  • Ability to lead project assignments around testing protocols, review/approval of results and identifying quality control challenges
  • Ability to travel up to 35%.
