Located on the downtown Orlando campus, Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies opened in 2006, providing programs and services focused on the unique needs of women and newborns. Specialized care covers all facets of women's health, from comprehensive gynecological services and minimally invasive surgeries to obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies and births. The hospital is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care and is certified in perinatal care by The Joint Commission. Welcoming nearly 14,000 babies each year, the hospital’s 350 beds include 142 neonatal intensive care beds, making it one of the largest neonatal intensive care units under one roof in the country. As a sister hospital with Orlando Health Arnold Palmer for Children, the hospital was included in the 2021-22 “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings by U.S. News & World Report, recognized for expertise in Neonatology, and, together with Orlando Health ORMC, was included in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2021

Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies is Patient Transportation Team seeking a Group Lead, Patient Transport. Â Group Lead, Patient Transportation is a self-motivated leader that is able to direct and coordinate activities of other Transportation Services personnel within patient care and ancillary support areas of the hospital and report any problems to the appropriate personnel. Monitors all essential functions for current employees and serves as a working lead covering positions in Patient Transportation Services.

- Works cooperatively with other staff members and be able to communicate effectively with professional staff and provide excellent customer service. Able to complete tasks as assigned and work independently.
- To achieve a Superior Facility image, this individual is responsible for conducting required one-on-one training using approved techniques procedures and educational materials in the coaching process.
- Adheres to and trains team members to communicate with patients, visitors and customers using appropriate designated scripting and engagement techniques.
- Possesses excellent customer service and service recovery skills Performs normal supervisory duties in the absence of a supervisor. This position will be responsible for monitoring team member productivity and patient response time
- Able to dispatch and efficiently coordinate transport tracking while effectively communicating with patient care providers throughout the facility and patient transportation staff.
- Performs continuous technical, safety, quality, and productivity audits on Patient Transportation staff.
- Performs preventive maintenance and makes needed repairs on wheelchairs. Maintains accurate records of all maintenance performed.
- Delivers and/or picks up clean/dirty clinical equipment. Cleans, sorts, and re-tags equipment for replenishment in back up rooms on each unit. delivers broken equipment to the Clinical Engineering Department for repair.
- Maintains a database of equipment inventory and repair records for equipment replacement
- Demonstrates initiative and creativity to continuously improve services, departmental and interdepartmental processes, and any other activities that affect quality.
- If required by site, replenishes oxygen tanks throughout the facility
- Assists leadership in maintaining Joint Commission and CMS regulations pertaining to stretcher, wheelchair, and oxygen tank storage.
- Responds to all Code Red alerts with appropriate equipment and personnel. Responds to Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) with appropriate equipment and personnel.
- Able to alert appropriate personnel and respond to a Transport Tracking system failure.
- Facilitates staff meetings, Gemba, and huddles.
- Ensures all team members have adequate resources to perform their duties.
- Rounds with patients and internal customers to follow up on customer relations issues.
- Transports and delivers items, equipment, specimens, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility, site specific.
- May have limited access to areas storing medications
- Maintains, assembles, cleans, and performs safety checks on Orthopedic equipment if required for area.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- May be called upon to assist in the transport of patients to all areas of the hospital. This would include collaborating with clinical staff to assess patients to determine the most effective method for transport.
- Has the knowledge and ability to safely connect/disconnect a telemetry unit from a patient (site specific).
- Must be able to complete tasks as assigned and work independently.
- Familiar with MSDS book contents and procedures.

- High School Graduate or equivalent Required
- Six Months experience as a transporter Required
- 1 Year leadership experience preferred Preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification by the American Heart Association Required
- National Child Passenger Safety Certification (CPS) by Safe Kids USA – if needed for area is within 90 Days Required
