About the role
Kaimetrix is seeking a highly skilled Network Administrator to support the operation, deployment, configuration, and modernization of the Games for Training (GFT) lab environment under the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation.
The Network Administrator will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing network infrastructure, supporting virtualization and storage platforms, implementing cybersecurity requirements, and ensuring the reliable operation of GFT training systems. This position supports Cisco network environments, Windows servers and workstations, VMware virtualization platforms, storage systems, MDT imaging solutions, and associated lab infrastructure. The role also supports deployments, system upgrades, troubleshooting, and sustainment activities at remote training locations, including both CONUS and OCONUS sites as mission requirements dictate.
What you'll do
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex network incidents, outages, and performance issues.
- Support the design, implementation, optimization, and sustainment of LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data center network environments.
- Assist in developing network architecture standards, technical documentation, and operational best practices.
- Evaluate and recommend networking technologies, solutions, and tools that improve performance, security, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity and infrastructure issues, and maintain high availability of critical systems.
- Create and maintain network diagrams, configuration documentation, standard operating procedures, and technical records.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity compliance requirements, including STIG remediation, IAVM patching, and resolution of cybersecurity tasking orders (CTOs).
- Support Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) operations, including creation and maintenance of operating system images, task sequences, drivers, and deployment packages.
- Travel to GFT training locations to support system deployment, installation, integration, upgrades, troubleshooting, testing, and sustainment activities.
- Perform onsite installation and configuration of network devices, servers, workstations, storage systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Participate in pre-deployment planning activities and post-deployment validation efforts to ensure mission readiness.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, program stakeholders, and local site personnel during fielding and upgrade activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of hands-on network engineer experience in implementation, troubleshooting, and design
- Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.)
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are preferred
- Strong working knowledge of DoD network compliance frameworks, with proven experience applying and verifying STIGs across enterprise network devices
- Familiarity with identifying, tracking, and remediating network vulnerabilities in accordance with IAVM notices and security directives
- Ability and willingness to travel as required, including CONUS and potential OCONUS travel.
- Ability to support deployments that may require extended travel periods depending on mission requirements.
- Secret Clearance REQUIRED
