Position Summary
The Developmental Care Collaborative (DCC) is a specialized multidisciplinary team within the NICU dedicated to caring for medically complex infants who require extended hospitalization due to chronic respiratory, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, and feeding-related conditions. The DCC focuses on supporting infants who continue to require advanced medical care beyond a traditional NICU stay, while promoting developmental progress, family engagement, and successful transition planning.
Patient Population
Patients cared for by the Developmental Care Collaborative may include infants who:
- Require prolonged NICU hospitalization
- Have chronic pulmonary or respiratory conditions, including severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD)
- Require long-term ventilatory or respiratory support
- Experience complex feeding or gastrointestinal challenges
- Require specialized developmental, nutritional, and discharge planning services

Responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse on the DCC team, you will collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, rehabilitation specialists, nutrition services, and other interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive, family-centered care for infants with complex medical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to medically complex neonatal patients.
- Monitor and manage patients with advanced respiratory support needs.
- Support feeding plans and collaborate with nutrition, speech-language, occupational, and physical therapy teams.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning.
- Educate and support families throughout the hospitalization journey.
- Coordinate discharge preparation and caregiver training.
- Advocate for developmental and family-centered care practices.
- Collaborate with pulmonology, respiratory therapy, and additional specialty services as appropriate.
Qualifications
Education/Training
• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department.
Licensure/Certification
• Maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP required for Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU).
Experience
- At least two (1) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting. NICU experience prefer. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
