Position Responsibilities:
This role will lead the design, integration, commissioning, and field support of advanced electrical control systems for large-scale custom projects. The position requires a hands-on engineering leader who can manage complex controls work from early concept through final turnover.
- Lead development and implementation of advanced controls systems, including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and network architecture.
- Own system performance through design, commissioning, troubleshooting, validation, and customer turnover.
- Lead and support formal design reviews while ensuring technical alignment across engineering disciplines.
- Develop test plans, commissioning procedures, validation documentation, schematics, control narratives, and functional descriptions.
- Provide hands-on field support for installation oversight, system debugging, inspections, acceptance testing, and issue resolution.
- Serve as a technical lead in customer-facing situations, including warranty support, sustaining engineering, vendors, contractors, and field teams.
- Support proposal development, technical scope definition, and evaluation of new controls technologies.
Position requirements:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 5+ years of controls engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree or 3+ years with a master’s degree.
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, motor control, and control system architecture.
- Strong proficiency with Rockwell Studio 5000 or equivalent PLC platforms.
- Experience with system commissioning, troubleshooting, field support, integration, and functional safety principles.
- Ability to read and develop electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code.
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel significantly for field activities and project execution.
- Must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR due to access to export-controlled technical data.
Preferred Requirements:
- M.S. in a related technical field.
- Florida E.I.T. or P.E. license, or ability to obtain.
- Experience with themed entertainment, amusement, or large-scale custom mechanization systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar electrical design tools.
- Experience with three-phase power systems and industrial electrical infrastructure.
- Experience managing technical risk on complex custom-engineered systems.
- Familiarity with ASTM F2291 or related industry standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead field activities and coordinate with clients, contractors, and vendors.
