CoxĀ FleetĀ is currently hiring aĀ Sr.Ā Shop Diesel TechnicianĀ to join our team to supportĀ futureĀ growth of the Company. The Sr.Ā Shop Diesel Technician will be responsible forĀ performing licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned.Ā Ā Heavily relied upon forĀ advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Shop Diesel Technician I/II.Ā Ā A successful Sr Shop Diesel Technician complies withĀ all company policies and achieves high levelĀ performance metrics.Ā Ā

DUTIESĀ
Always follow and comply with safe operating practices and procedures.Ā Ā
IndependentlyĀ determiningĀ parts required for each job and interact with the Shop Parts Department to obtain.Ā Ā
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.Ā Assist in cleanup at the end of each day for tools, parts, and equipment.Ā Ā
Applies knowledge that is acquired through formal training or on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job.Ā Ā
Work with Service Writer to assess customer needs, providing information or assistance, resolving their problems, or satisfying their expectationsĀ
Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.Ā
Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty and keep commitments. Behave in a consistent manner, keeping sensitive information confidential and adhering to ethical and professional standards.Ā Ā
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (āPMā), DOT Inspections and follow up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a Shop environment.Ā
Occasionally, travel and perform work at customer location.Ā
Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment.Ā
Use hand tools, precision instruments, as well as Diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.Ā
Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders (āROā) using company issued device and/or Karmak application.Ā Ā
Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation inĀ timelyĀ fashion.Ā
Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.Ā
Communicate with Shop Manager and support team to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers and/or discuss RO findings notes.Ā
Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT.Ā
Participate and complete all-in company required safety training.Ā
Maintain Shop assigned service trucks, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.Ā
Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.Ā
Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.Ā
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.Ā
Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.Ā Ā
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.Ā
Assist Shop Diesel Technician I with diagnostics.Ā
Support Shop Diesel Technician I/II in obtaining correct parts for each job.Ā Ā Ā
Advises Shop Diesel Technicians I & II on technical issues.Ā Ā
Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information,Ā usingĀ sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.Ā
Assist Shop Diesel Technician I/II with diagnostics.Ā Ā
Perform advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Shop Diesel Technicians I/II.Ā

REQUIREMENTSĀ
High School Diploma/GED and 5 yearsā experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 yearsā experience; or 7 yearsā experience in a related field.Ā Ā
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.Ā
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.Ā Ā
This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportationās (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.Ā Ā
A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in leu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.Ā
Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.Ā Ā
Safe drivers needed; valid driverās licenseĀ required.Ā CandidateĀ must hold a valid state-of-residence driverās license, be able to obtain andĀ maintainĀ their Driver Qualification File.Ā
