Job Summary

The Field Systems Engineer configures, develops, builds, installs, and maintains location-based camera systems and related support equipment at attractions and rides within various themed amusement parks under licensed contract. The ideal candidate bridges the gap between hardware installation and software configuration. Requires travel and shop work.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to client sites to install, configure, and ensure proper operation of systems, maintaining high-quality service standards.
  • Perform software and driver installations, as well as firmware updates, to ensure systems remain current and fully functional.
  • Configure, customize, and optimize software settings and parameters to match specific ride/attraction requirements, ensuring seamless integration with hardware.
  • Install, maintain, and support photographic systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Run, terminate, and organize cabling to support system functionality and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
  • Build, assemble, and prepare equipment for installation and operational use according to specifications.
  • Maintain automated system diagnostics, data logging and camera configurations as part of a system installation procedure
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to complete projects, resolve issues, and meet deadlines.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and perform upgrades to improve performance and address technical challenges.
  • Display pleasant, positive and supportive behavior towards all personnel within Colorvision and Landlord/Client while on routine assignments, technical installments and any other issues that arise. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area. 
  • Following all company policies as stated in the employee handbook. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned or necessary. 

 

Qualifications

Education, Certification(s) and Experience

  • Knowledgeable in the use of VOM meters to measure and document voltage and current readings, trace wires, detect wire shorts and opens. 
  • Basic understanding of code logic, scripts or structured data (e.g., JSON, XML) to troubleshoot hardware and software system behavior
  • Knowledgeable in DC and AC circuit tracing and troubleshooting. 
  • Dexterous with basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, wire cutter and stripper, wire crimper, RJ45 crimper, and other such tools. 
  • Mechanical knowledge and skills – working with light industrial tools to insure proper and safe installations of elevated and sometimes hidden camera equipment in themed amusement park rides. 
  • Ability to read blueprints, flowcharts, schematics, and engineering documents 
  • Ability to work with industrial equipment in high place location. 
  • 40% overnight travel required nationally and internationally as needed for installation and maintenance projects. 
  • Day travel to various locations may be required. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time
  • Capacity to perform repetitive and detailed tasks for long durations
  • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, and kneeling
  • Ability to lift and carry items, occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Capability to safely climb ladders and maintain stability while doing so
  • Ability to climb and work on scaffolding
  • Comfortable crawling into small or confined spaces, including elevated areas
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Clear hearing and ability to communicate effectively (speaking and understanding)
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license

Travel Required

  • Travel and provide onsite support for customer locations as needed (Estimated 40% throughout the year.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport and legally authorized to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.
