Civil Engineer I:  $28.28 - $36.07

Civil Engineer II: $28.90 - $38.30 

Civil Engineer III: $31.51 - $41.75  
Civil Engineer IV:$34.34 - $45.50

Nature of Work:

ENGINEERING DESIGN: Performs professional engineering work in the design or review of engineering plans and specifications for the construction of public works projects such as streets, parking facilities, storm and sanitary systems, and environmental programs. Employees in this class prepare designs and detailed specifications for construction or are responsible for the review of plans submitted by engineering consulting firms to ensure construction is compliant with City of Orlando standards and engineering principles, methods, and techniques. Work assignments are received from a professional supervisor who defines the scope of the work to be performed, but the employee is expected to plan details of work and make technical decisions. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion.


Minimum Qualifications:

Civil Engineer I:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and six (6) or more months professional experience in engineering, public works construction, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida desired. Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Civil Engineer II:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with two (2) or more years professional experience in engineering, public works construction, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida desired.

Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Civil Engineer III:


Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) or more years professional experience in engineering, public works construction, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida desired.

Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Civil Engineer IV:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) or more years professional experience in engineering, public works construction, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Florida required.

Valid Florida Driver's License required.


Additional Qualifications for Promotion:

Promotions are not to be considered an automatic function of longevity and are subject to the review and authorization of the Supervisor. The employee’s last performance review must have resulted in an overall rating of Meets standards or better with no factor rating of less than meets.
