The Academic Advisor is one of three staff positions in the ELH Academic Support Center (ASC). ASC staff support faculty, staff, and students across the college’s 11 academic units and 24 undergraduate majors, handling a high volume of requests. This position provides academic advising for designated programs within ELH and assists with additional student support functions in the ASC. Additionally, this position contributes to new academic initiatives within the college and the ASC. Typical hiring salary for this position is $50,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Required:
- Typically has the education associated with a master’s degree in a related field and at least three years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Significant experience with undergraduate students in higher education.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing on sensitive student matters.
- Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Office and Google programs and willingness to learn new software applications.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of UMaine policies and academic programs; understanding of ELH programs.
- Experience with MaineStreet and Navigate platforms.
- Previous college academic advising experience.
- Working knowledge of FERPA and mandatory reporting requirements.
