Town of Orono

The Town is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of a thriving municipality while enjoying an outstanding work-life balance.

The Finance Department manages all aspects of the Town’s financial operations, including payroll, budget development, investments, financial reporting, and auditing, overseeing an annual operating budget of approximately $12.2 million.

As a Senior Staff Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include performing and maintaining accurate account reconciliations, ensuring financial records are complete and reliable, assisting with month-end and year-end processes, preparing financial reports, and supporting the Town’s overall accounting and financial management functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Several years of municipal finance or governmental accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with TRIO software is preferred.
