Job DetailsJob Location: Pulaski, NY - Pulaski, NY 13142Position Type: Full-Time/Part-TimeSalary Range: $16.00 - $22.00 HourlyJob Shift: AnyJob Category: Nonprofit - Social ServicesA talented young man who is eager to get out into his community and grow in his independence is looking to hire a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to work with him. He is seeking to work with someone who will encourage him to grow further in his independence both in his home and community, while working on his goals, which include: Increasing his involvement in community activities related to his interests (singing, playing the piano, working with animals, going to the gym) which also offer him opportunities to work on his communication and social skills. Encouraging him to increase his independent living skills including cooking, maintaining his apartment, managing his bills, and scheduling appointments. Expanding his knowledge of ways to live a healthier lifestyle including meal planning, exercising, and making healthy choices. Helping him find healthy coping mechanisms for regulating his emotions. The characteristics he is looking for in a DSP is someone that is reliable, creative, has good interpersonal skills, is energetic, has a good sense of humor, and comfortable working with individuals with developmental disabilities.  Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address. Hours/Days of work:   Monday (8 AM - 3 PM) Tuesday (5 PM - 8 PM) Wednesday (9:30 AM - 3 PM) Thursday (9:30 AM - 3 PM) Every other Sunday (2 PM - 6 PM) and/or (5 PM - 9 PM), depending on schedule   Selected candidate does not need to fill all available shifts to be considered for the position.   Pay rate: $22.00 per hour when providing direct support. Background checks required Education & Experience: GED or High School Diploma preferred. Applicable job experience preferred. Desired Skills and Abilities: previous experience working 1:1 in a related service environment preferred. Knowledge of disability related issues preferred. The Mentor is paid at the provider’s rate for the service based on an assessment of the specific support needs of the individual in the areas of behavioral support, communication support, and physical support needs.
