Job DetailsJob Location: Osborne, KS 67473Position Type: Full-Time/Part-TimeSUMMARY: To perform tests that help physicians diagnose and treat disease.  Medical Laboratory personnel/technicians prepare samples for analysis, monitor test and procedures, and analyze the chemical content of fluids, match blood for transfusions.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Includes the following, but is not limited to any other duties or tasks that may be assigned: Perform only those tests authorized by the director or laboratory manager/CLIA General Supervisor. Follows the laboratories procedures for specimen handling, processing result reporting, and record maintenance. Maintains records and proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples. Adheres to the laboratory’s policies with regard to QC, QA, and remedial action. Identify problems that adversely affect test performance. Document all corrective actions taken Rotation of Call with a 30 minute response time Take orders from Physicians and carry out proper testing Work with a variety of departments in a Professional manner Keep informed as to new ideas and procedures for improving work methods and flow of work When tests are completed results of the testing will be given to the physician in a timely manner along with distributing reports Maintain patient records, logs, stats, and reports and adhere to HIPPA policies Attend Professional Development meetings through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in Laboratory Participate in hospital/medical staff committee meetings as required and may serve on professional/civic service organizations as a hospital representative. Adhere to dress code and other hospital wide policies Complete mandatory in-service requirements Wear name tag while on duty Reports to work on time and as scheduled Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner and complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices Scheduling patients and coordinating appointments. Handles emergency or crisis situations Must be able to multitask QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successful, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: have education or equivalent to a AA degree and graduated from a clinical laboratory training program or have 3 months experience in each specialty of high complexity testing performed.   CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Maintain certification at least within 90 days after hire for CPR.  MT/MLT as certified by national organization such as ASCP, AAB, AMT, etc.   LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Provide accurate, concise and effective oral and written communication.   Promote positive environment conductive to teamwork, innovation and positive morale.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, and the general public.   MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractures, and decimals.  Ability to do laboratory mathematics.   REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems that deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function.
