Every other Monday 7:45am-4:30pm

Tuesday 7:45am-4:30pm

Wednesday 7:45am-4:30pm

Thursday 7:45am-4:30pm

Every other Friday 7:45am-4:30pm


Job Summary:

Clinic assistant work directly with Allergist, ENT, and Urology- will be expected to fill in with other specialty clinicians as needed- which will including, providing direct patient care rooming patients, Scribing, taking vitals signs, review patients chart in EMR system, helping with small procedures and administering immunization as well as chart prepping. Additionally inbox management, which would include but not limited to, calling /contacting patients with results, reviewing patient messages, and completing patient forms. 


Responsibilities include:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform pre-visit planning/prepping for patient visits.
  • Assist Specialty providers with administering patient care.
  • Use AIDET with every customer encounter.
  • Prepare patients for providers examination, obtaining vital signs and other physical measurements, recording accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Document in the EMR all interactions with both patients and clinicians when medical direction is given.
  • Reviewing education with patients and families when advised by clinician.
  • Tracks orders, results, and phone messages for each Specialist to appropriate sites both incoming and outgoing
  • Test results are identified needing timely review and distributed to the Specialist in a timely manner.
  • Documents are all interactions with patients and providers when medical direction is given.
  • Facilitates as a liaison with Specialist’s main site.
  • Oversees equipment inventory for each Specialist.
  • Assist Specialist during procedures and processing specimens to lab.
  • Clean and sanitize clinic instruments per clinic protocol.
  • Sets up surgery orders for Specialists doing surgery at OMC and coordinates with other facilities when needed.
  • Administer and document medications per clinic protocols.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, exam rooms, and treatment rooms.
  • Apply treatments and dressings as requested by providers.
  • Refill medications per protocol.
  • Assist in prior authorization for medications and medical equipment.
  • Adhere to clinic and departmental procedures and protocols.
  • Assisting in proper placement of case orders, pending providers assisting needs.


 SUPPLEMENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with patients, scheduling, and registration staff to ensure patient’s needs are met.
  • Remain punctual, reliable, and available for late coverage if applicable.
  • Assess and solve problems while effectively providing high quality service to patients.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Maintain required certification and/or licensure applicable to degree.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Bring issues directly to the appropriate individual in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information acquired through clinic employment.
  • Follow clinic emergency/safety protocols and attend mandatory meetings.
  • Abide by clinic protocols, ergonomic recommendations, and OSHA standards.
  • Adhere to the clinic Core Behavior Standards and provide comprehensive care according to a patient-centered healthcare clinic.
  • Utilize appropriate communication methods to ensure communication is delivered accurately and timely. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates positive verbal communication and listening skills with internal and external customers. Maintaining these positive relationships. Including but not limited to patients, providers, other department staff, etc.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, occasionally.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and general patient care skills.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skill in professional, clinic and system areas. 
  • Demonstrate flexibility in performing additional responsibilities to contribute to the improvements in patient care and the functioning of the clinic and other support areas. 
  • Assists with the updating of current and development of new procedures as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of PC, Windows, and Microsoft Office
  • Willingly performing additional duties and tasks as assigned/asked
  • Ability to multi-task between tasks. 

Physical Requirements for the Role: 

  • Sit, stand, or walk, while paying close attention to detail and continual use of equipment in the carrying out direct patient care and related activities. 
  • Lift from waist to shoulder up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds rarely. 
  • Carry up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Push and pull up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. 
  • Bend the trunk up to 20 degrees or greater and twist occasionally for patient cares. 
  • Squat and kneel occasionally. Reach to shoulder height occasionally, and above shoulder height rarely. Pinch and grip with various forces, and use bimanual dexterity occasionally. 
  • Use visual and auditory acuity frequently. 
  • Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended use of computer.
  • Communicate via spoken, written or electronic word with patients and family, staff, pharmacies, third party payors and other outside agencies on a frequent basis.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or EMT) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Clinical experience, preferred.
  • Specialty Clinic Experience, preferred.
  • OCHIN EPIC Experience, preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS). 


Work Environment: 

 

The clinic department is kept secure by limited badge entry and alarm system. Potential for exposure to infectious patients or materials, hazardous or toxic substances such as cleaning solutions and potential for needle sticks.
