Position Summary APN Specialty Coatings is seeking a Strategic Business Development Manager – Coatings & Custom Manufacturing. The role is dedicated to showcasing APN’s innovative production capabilities and proprietary formulations, positioning the brand as a leader in performance and quality. This high-visibility position champions territory expansion, strategic account partnerships, and market development, building awareness and preference for APN solutions across key industries. Success in this role will be defined not only by revenue growth and strategic account acquisition, but also by the strengthened recognition and year-over-year expansion of APN’s brand presence in the marketplace. Key Responsibilities Strategic • Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy to expand APN’s custom manufacturing presence. • Identify, target, and secure high-value strategic accounts, driving sustained revenue growth and market penetration. • Anticipate and respond to market trends, competitive activities, and emerging technologies to inform business strategy and positioning. • Serve as the executive-level point of contact for major accounts, aligning customer objectives with APN’s long-term business goals. • Represent APN as a thought leader at industry trade shows, conferences, and regional events to enhance brand visibility and reputation. Operational • Build and maintain a data-driven sales pipeline through CRM systems, ensuring forecasting accuracy and performance tracking. • Lead complex, high-value contract negotiations with major accounts, securing multi-year agreements and favorable business terms. • Partner with Marketing, Operations, and Product Development teams to deliver customized, customer-focused solutions that differentiate APN in the marketplace. • Coordinate with technical teams on product trials, demonstrations, and technical support for key customers to accelerate adoption and growth. Leadership • Act as a subject matter expert for the industrial coatings market, sharing expertise and mentoring junior sales professionals when needed. • Champion a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance across the business development function. Additional • Drive additional strategic initiatives as required to support company growth objectives.Qualifications & CompetenciesQualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field required; MBA preferred. • 7+ years of progressive B2B sales or business development experience, with at least 3 years in industrial coatings or related industries. • Knowledge of the paint and coatings industry is a strong plus. • Demonstrated success in regional market expansion, strategic account leadership, and competitive positioning. • Proven ability to engage with senior decision-makers and close complex, high-value contracts. • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including marketing, operations, and product development to deliver integrated solutions. • Strong negotiation, executive communication, and strategic relationship-building skills. • Proficiency in CRM tools such as Salesforce and advanced pipeline forecasting. • Willingness to travel up to 30 percent regionally for customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
