For more information, please visit our website at www.opendoormedical.org. Open Door is seeking a Bilingual School Based Mental Health Clinician to work in our Ossining, NY Schools. The Bilingual School Based Mental Health Clinician responsibility is to provide direct clinical mental health services to patients of all ages, with the goal of providing high quality, culturally competent, accessible, and integrated healthcare. They will also provide individual, couple, family treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and families. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide individual, family, and group counseling based on clinical diagnosis and assessment of the clients’ presenting problems within an outpatient mental health setting. Accurately document all clinical interventions, diagnoses, symptoms, and presenting problems in the Electronic Medical Record Provide high-quality evidence-based treatment using a variety of modalities including trauma systems therapy and substance use disorder interventions. Participate in weekly supervision, multi-disciplinary team meetings, service training programs. Provide crisis counseling, linkages to concrete and wraparound service, and coordinate with other providers to better serve the needs of students and families. Require independent knowledge and judgment related to complex situations. Document clinical symptoms, presenting problem, symptoms impact on functioning and interventions that are consistent with diagnosis. Work with patient to develop treatment plan goals and objectives for treatment of mental health, substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders. Provides ongoing communication with other care providers including PCP regarding patients care needs. Incorporate health and wellness education and referrals for preventative care. Respond to and incorporates physical health concerns into ongoing care interventions. Provide crisis intervention and warm hand off assessments as needed. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times as per Open Door policies and procedures. Prepare and maintain documentation in compliance with JCAHO standards and applicable city, state, and federal laws. Demonstrate ability to function in a culturally sensitive manner within the organization’s philosophy and mission. Foster good communication between the center and the community by returning all patient telephone requests. Ensure timely communication: responding timely to emails, teams, calls, and electronic health record communication. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Master’s Degree from an accredited graduate school in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy (MSW, MHC, or MFT) LMSW, LMHC, or LMFT preferred with current New York State registration and license as a Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW) or corresponding degree. CASAC a plus EXPERIENCE Excellent clinical experience with mentally ill, substance abuse afflicted population. Must have experience with providing clinical services to children and families, preferably in the health care field. Passionate about providing high-quality care to low-income, underserved residents in a mental health setting. Desire to work in underserved communities. Outstanding clinical, assessment, and diagnostic skills Proficient in the use of computers, and specifically with electronic medical records Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a culturally diverse population Team-focused collaborator Excellent interpersonal skills both verbally and in writing Highly organized, self–directed. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and culturally diverse setting. Facilitate referrals to appropriate treatment settings for mental health, psychiatric and substance use disorder needs when care is unable to be provided at ODFMC. Strong computer skills including working knowledge in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as capacity to navigate and enhance proficiency in these and other software systems. Thorough knowledge of current social work and mental health practices. Experience in or desire to work with lower socio-economic and multi-stressed families. WORKING CONDITIONS Frequent contact with patients, employees, and outside agencies. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to a health center environment. Requires adherence to Infection Control Standard Precautions. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Combination of sitting, standing, and walking Requires independent knowledge and judgment related to complex situations.
