CREDIT MANAGER

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the commercial banker’s portfolio of commercial relationships. Work is performed within the framework of standard operating policies and procedures; however, independent judgment and discretion is required in performing assigned tasks. Deviations from normal procedures and/or questions are referred to the designated supervisor.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Gather initial information on new loan requests, such as entity documents, customer identification, contact information, financials, tax returns, and collateral descriptions.

 

Verify information utilizing online databases including county clerk, tax assessor, credit bureau, and others as applicable.

 

Coordinate with loan assistant to order appraisal, title work, flood certification, and other vendor services as needed.

 

Write detailed credit memos for new loan requests and renewals; complete loan proposals and facilitate the approval process through commercial banker, loan committee, or board loan committee.

 

Schedule loan closings and attend in place of commercial banker, if needed. Attend new client meetings as requested.

 

Contact current customers to clear exceptions after loan is booked.

 

Work coming due loans 45-60 days in advance.

 

Perform all duties of a credit analyst.

 

Comply with all banking regulations, policies, and procedures.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences, and workshops. Represent the bank in a variety of community activities and functions. Participate in prospect and customer marketing calls and banker meetings.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Possess a four-year college degree from an accredited university or institution with a major area of study in accounting, finance, business administration or other closely related discipline. Work experience and/or college coursework can be substituted for a four-year college degree.

 

Possess a minimum of five years of professional work experience as a credit analyst or closely related field.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Strong oral and written communication skills.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Excellent financial and accounting analytic skills.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have the ability to operate the following equipment:  telephone, 10-key calculator, typewriter, personal computer and printer, copy machine, fax machine. Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with financial modeling. Advanced PC knowledge.

Has frequent contact with individuals within the lending department, senior management, and customers.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license.
