Staff Accountant
Position Overview:
This position supports the Finance team in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance & Accounting Department. Provide management with financial information by researching, analyzing and reconciling accounts. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Prepares general ledger journal entries, fixed asset tracking, monthly balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliation.
- Develops, analyzes, and prepares periodic financial statements for timely distribution to management.
- Manage employee credit card charges and processing of expense reports.
- Process accounts payable and issue weekly ACH and check disbursements.
- Prepare and file state sales tax returns and issue payments as required by state law.
- Prepare and distribute 1099s to vendors.
- Meet deadlines required by management and outside sources.
- Keep the Finance managers informed of issues related to the accounting system.
- Assists with related special projects as required.
- Additional functions may be assigned as designated by the Finance managers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred.
- Must have attention to detail. Strong typing and 10-key skills required.
- Knowledge of finance and accounting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work under changing priorities and with enthusiasm.
- Prior experience with SAP Business One is desirable but not required.
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
- In-person office environment with some flexibility to work from home.
- Continually required to sit.
- While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- No travel required.
