STAFF ACCOUNTANT II
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing various duties to assist in the accounting department including account payable, prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, and processing daily investment transactions and pledging. In addition, assist in month-end and quarter-end report preparation. Work is performed independently within the framework of standard operating policies and procedures. Â

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist in the review of bank accounts payable expenditures and employee expense reporting to ensure the propriety of the amount, the appropriateness of the accounting treatment, and the existence of proper authorization. Assist in processing accounts payable. Ensure corporate credit card expenses are submitted and processed timely.

Assist with preparation of internal, external and regulatory financial reports, including Board Reports, ALCO reporting, Allowance for credit loss analysis and reporting, and loan reporting. Call report and Y-9 assistance and reporting.
Â
Process accruals and prepaids; fixed assets; and sales tax.
Â
Assist with the preparation of 1099-nec and W-9 tax forms.
Â
Assist with vendor management reporting.
Â
Prepare month-end investment reconciliations and quarter-end fair value adjustments.
Â
Assist with recording purchase, maturity, paydowns, and sale transactions associated with the bank’s investment portfolio.
Â
Assist with regulatory pledging requirements for the Bank’s public funds and repurchase agreements.
Â
Reconcile and balance daily and month-end reports, accounts, and bank statements.
Â
Assist in various other duties within the department to include quarter-end, month-end, tax, SOX, and audit.Â
Â
Assist with query research and reporting.
Â
Assist in other special projects as requested by the Chief Financial Officer.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences and workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Possess a four-year college degree from an accredited university or institution with the major area of study in business administration, accounting, finance, or closely related field.Â
Â
Possess a minimum of at least five years of professional accounting experience.
Â
Preference may be given to the individual possessing a Certified Public Accountant’s License.
Â
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have the ability to operate the following equipment: telephone, 10-key calculator, typewriter, personal computer and printer, copy machine, shredder, check encoder, step stool and/or ladder, multi-drawer file cabinet, laminator, and fax machine. Must have working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and database software programs.

Has frequent contact with all personnel in all areas of the Bank. Has moderate contact with Bank customers in responding to inquiries as part of the customer service function.

Has frequent contact with regulators, outside auditors, various individuals at other financial institutions, and investment brokers.

Position may require overnight travel to attend a conference, school or training program. May also require ability to work before or after normal business hours and Saturdays.
