POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing production staff, overseeing daily operations, ensuring that production goals are met and maintaining product quality and safety standards. May assign in Raw or Fully Cook Side of the production and overseeing warehouse/shipping and receiving area.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Enforce plant safety and USDA plant regulations
  • Work on special projects as needed. Responsible for compliance of company, state and federal employment laws and practices
  • Plans and does lay out work, assigns, instructs, directs, and assist employees as necessary in performance of their duties. Studies production schedules and estimates hourly worker requirements for completion of jobs
  • Establishes and adjust production schedules to meet customer needs, and to maintain a good rotation of raw, marinated inventory
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Continuous training and development of all line employees, operators and leads
  • Responsible for on time start ups and completion of schedule
  • Responsible for accurate and timely timekeeping
  • Assign all jobs for production workers.
  • Collaborate with QA, maintenance, and logistics teams.
  • Planning and tracking all repairs of all plant equipment
  • Planning and tracking of work orders
  • Training of production employees
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred, but not required.
  • 5 years previous supervisory experience in meat processing/manufacturing food production or a similar industry.
  • Knowledge of meat processing, safety, and quality standards.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
  • Knowledge of production equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English with strong verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Spanish is helpful, but not required.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions. 

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to have a full range of body motion including twisting, bending, reaching outward, pushing, pulling, intensive hand/wrist movement and lifting to meet the NSP minimum required pounds per day which is up to 50 pounds (unassisted). The employee must be able to walk and stand for a significant amount of time on even concrete surfaces, which may at times be slippery due to marinades, water, and other liquids associated with the production process. 

Due to noise levels in the work environment, the use of hearing protection is required.  The employee must have good, corrected vision to see details at close range or at a distance. The employee will be working in a climate-controlled environment of -40ºF to -45ºF. The employee may be exposed to strong odors such as raw meat and marinades from seasoned meat.               

While in the production area, the employee is required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include hair and beard nets, rubber-sold shoes, smocks, hearing protection and hard hats.
