Job DetailsJob Location: Owensboro, KY 42301Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High School/GEDSalary Range: $17.00 - $19.00 HourlyTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: DayJob Summary: Day Shift 6:30am-6:30pm The Medical Assistant supports patient care by performing administrative and clinical tasks to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow at the RiverValley Behavioral Health Children’s Hospital. This role provides direct support to nursing and medical staff, while assisting with patient documentation, vitals, scheduling and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Essential Functions: Manage patient records, update medical histories and file necessary documentation. Assist with examinations and clinical procedures under supervision. Record and report vital signs, weights and other observations to nursing staff. Maintain cleanliness, restock supplies and ensure a safe clinical environment. Coordinate referrals and appointments with external providers as needed. Assist with medication documentation and communication to pharmacy as directed. Answer phones and communicate professionally with families, visitors and interdisciplinary staff. Adhere to infection control procedures and PPE guidelines. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all privacy standards. Participate in annual training, staff meetings and performance reviews. Perform other duties as assigned.   QualificationsEducation and Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required with RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) or CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) certification preferred. Graduate of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant program required with CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred. Prior experience in a medical office or inpatient setting is preferred.   Knowledge and Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills. Demonstrates professionalism and a positive, respectful attitude. Proficiency in taking and recording vital signs and patient observations. Ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a hospital setting.
