Job Purpose

The Assistant Construction Site Supervisor assists the Construction Site Supervisor with planning, directing and coordinating activities pertaining to the construction, renovation and maintenance of assigned properties in accordance with company policies and government regulations.

 Full-Time / Exempt / Typical schedule Tues-Sat 7:30am-4:00pm or flexed to meet the needs of the company

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Supervision

  • Assists Construction Site Supervisor in all aspects of the construction job from trench to move in.
  • Train and lead skilled and unskilled volunteers and AmeriCorps service members in residential construction activities while maintaining a safe, secure and healthy work environment by adhering to and enforcing construction safety protocols.
  • Provide on-site supervision and guidance to AmeriCorps service members.
  • Assist in the evaluation of trade partners and product performance. Provide ongoing information to Director of Construction and Construction Site supervisor regarding quality of workmanship.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a clean job site for trade partners, service members, volunteers and donors.
  • Ensures that volunteers, homeowners and AmeriCorps service members are actively engaged in the construction process, assuring that homeowners and volunteers are being teamed together; maintaining a teaching environment while adequately adhering to safety guidelines.

Inspection / Maintenance

  • Assists with the supervision of trade partners from rough, finish, detail and preparation for final inspection.
  • Perform on-site inspections of the various trade partners’ work to ensure that the level of quality is in compliance.
  • Coordinate walk through preparation of homes for move-in readiness, ensuring timely home completion and deliveries with warranty manager.
  • Ensure that all necessary tools, equipment, materials are properly maintained, stored, checked for quality and inventoried regularly while returning or discarding any item that does not meet Habitat’s quality standards.

Volunteer Management

  • Works closely with volunteer services to coordinate volunteer efforts for upcoming projects and worksites.
  • Spends one day per work with volunteer services to plan and coordinate onsite volunteer opportunities.

Safety

  • Maintain safety compliance knowledge through required trainings and disseminate to all those who come to a Habitat jobsite
  • Maintain a hazard free, clean workspace
  • Understand and operate by safe work practices at all our locations and events to ensure we meet, if not exceed, OSHA and Habitat safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all team members and volunteers are aware of and operate by Habitat’s safety policies and procedures
  • Exercise outlined protocols by immediately notifying and collaborating with management on any safety related incident and/or respond to a report involving Habitat or any other related team members (workers, volunteers, and subcontractors)
  • If within area of purview initiate and / or provide assistance for the proper investigation regarding safety incidents by following Habitat Safety policies and procedures

Records

  • Assist the Construction Site Supervisor in maintaining records of job changes
  • Maintain safety log 

 

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Construction knowledge required / homebuilding experience preferred
  • Volunteer management experience preferred
  • Take direction in a positive manner
  • Ability to effectively and safely use hand tools
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently inspect the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction in various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. This role uses various construction tools and is required to adhere to all HFHC safety standards.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and move materials up to 75lbs. The employee required to wear appropriate work attire including safety equipment (hard hat, gloves, steel toed shoes) when working on job sites.
