Doncasters Structural Castings of Oxford, Southern Tool, is a leading manufacturer of vacuum and air melt investment castings in Nickel and Cobalt based superalloys.

 

Our facility specialises in small to medium sized castings for customers worldwide in aerospace, industrial gas turbine and commercial markets. Some of the products at Southern Tool include, nozzles, heatshields, seal segments, torque bars and many more that keep the world in motion! Southern Tool is one of our larger sites employing around 210 employees, situated in Alabama it is a very commutable and accessible site to reach.

As an Engineering Technician, you will support engineering and manufacturing teams by performing technical tasks related to tooling management, process improvements, and production troubleshooting. Assist with the management and verification of tooling, collecting production data, and troubleshooting day to day issues.

  • Assist with tooling management, inventory tracking, and updates.
  • Conduct daily scrap reviews and help identify improvement opportunities.
  • Gather and analyze data to assist process engineers in optimizing production.
  • Improve work instructions and standard procedures under engineering guidance.
  • Maintain documentation and reports related to tooling and process adjustments.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

 

Interested? If you have the following skills we would like to hear from you

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, related field or equivalent (preferred).
  • Equivalent technical training or hands-on experience in a technical role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including investment casting.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T standards.
  • Advanced analytical skills for data collection and data management.
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing materials and measurement tools and experience working alongside engineers and technicians to support various projects and production efficiency.
  • Understanding of quality control practices, inspections, and root cause analysis.
