The Materials Specialist is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. This position works closely with the Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing and Accounting groups. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Attends project kick-off meetings and orders materials and services as specified.
  • Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers.
  • Works closely with Accounting department to help resolve any discrepancies between purchase orders and invoiced amounts.
  • Follows up on open orders and expedites Purchasing and services as necessary to meet production dates.
  • Assigns and tracks purchase order numbers. Enters all WIP orders into the accounting software system. Creates manual purchase orders for non-WIP items.
  • Maintains general inventory items to meet production requirements and participates with Accounting department in year-end inventory count and reconciliation.
  • Performs other related work and special projects such as presentations and PowerPoint files with data collection.
  • Obeys the company’s policies and procedures and observes all safety regulations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Ability to attend vendors visits and potential vendors trade shows and travel up to 10 percent.

Education/Experience:

  • Requires a high school diploma
  • Minimum of  one year work-related experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
