Your Opportunity as the Quality Assurance Specialist 

As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will have hands‑on ownership of quality systems, lead and develop frontline teams, and serve as a trusted resource on the production floor. Your decisions and expertise help prevent incidents, strengthen food safety culture, and ensure operational excellence every day.

Location: Oxnard, CA

Work Arrangements: 100% Onsite, flexible schedule

In this role you will:  

• Maintain good communication with all supervisors and workers on the why ’s and how ’s of plant food safety and quality.

• Promote food safety culture on the factory floor.

• Maintain all quality department related documentation

• Assist in the maintenance of all Quality programs.

• Assist in the supervision of the quality team during production hours as needed.

• Maintain accurate quality data files.

• Conduct trainings as needed in response to quality incidents and alerts.

• Maintain an adequate quality department supply inventory.

• Conduct the Food Safety/GMP/Sanitation audits.

• Conduct a daily food safety committee meeting with the production team.

• Carry out Quality Control supervision during shift.

• Train and qualify employees in quality control positions and cross-train with wastewater and sanitation.

• Issue QC holds and create comprehensive hold reports.

• Be able to recognize potentially serious situations and act before they escalate.

• Investigates and documents incidents thoroughly and timely (as soon as possible /on the same day it occurs.)

• Work closely with the Human Resources department in promoting safety and help instruct during safety meetings.

• Understand and comply with Union contract.

• Monitor processing operation and support operation of QA lab.

• Work with the HR and work out labor needs for the following workday.

• Maintain HSE and Quality Key elements as assigned.

What we are looking for:  

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Biology or Chemical Engineering or 4 years of experience in a quality role
  • Food science and /or manufacturing preferred

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:  

  • Be willing to work Saturdays and a swing shift during the processing season.
  • Able to work long hours - six days per week, any shift (year-round position)
  • Spanish preferred
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Possess communication and organization skills.
  • Possess supervisory ability.
  • Technical knowledge in food processing.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Possess understanding of sanitation principles.
  • Basic computer skills.

69,500 - 99,550
