Position Overview


We are seeking a licensed Clinical Supervisor with experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders to join our outpatient clinical team. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing clinical and administrative oversight to counseling staff within a residential substance abuse treatment facility. This position assists the Executive Clinical Director with daily operations, staff support, quality assurance, and program oversight while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, ethical, and compliant clinical services. The Clinical Supervisor may maintain a small caseload and facilitate psychoeducational and process groups as needed to support program operations and client care.


Clinical Oversight & Supervision

· Assists in providing direct supervision and support to clinical staff.

· Conduct regular individual and group supervision sessions.

· Review and approve clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other clinical records.

· Ensure clinical staff maintain compliance with documentation standards, timelines, and regulatory requirements.

· Assist staff with case conceptualization, crisis intervention, and treatment planning.

· Provide guidance on ethical and professional standards of care.

Administrative & Leadership Support

· Assist the Executive Clinical Director with oversight of daily clinical operations.

· Support implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and program initiatives.

· Assist with staff scheduling, workflow coordination, and coverage planning.

· Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and staff performance evaluations.

· Serve as a leadership resource and point of contact in the absence of the Director when delegated.

· Attend leadership, treatment team, and multidisciplinary meetings.

Direct Client Care Responsibilities

· Maintain a limited caseload as assigned. 

· Conduct individual counseling sessions, assessments, treatment planning, and discharge planning when needed. 

· Facilitate psychoeducational, therapeutic, and process groups for clients. 

· Provide crisis intervention and support to clients as clinically appropriate. 

· Ensure continuity of care and communication among treatment team members. 

Quality Assurance & Compliance

· Conduct routine chart audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with agency, state, and accreditation standards. 

· Monitor documentation quality and implement corrective action plans when needed. 

· Ensure adherence to HIPAA, confidentiality regulations, and organizational policies. 

· Participate in internal audits, licensing reviews, and accreditation preparation activities. 

· Identify trends in documentation deficiencies and provide training to improve compliance. 

Staff Development & Training

· Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities. 

· Facilitate trainings related to clinical documentation, evidence-based practices, ethics, and compliance. 

· Promote a positive, collaborative, and accountable clinical culture. 

Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related behavioral health field required. 

· Active state licensure required (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent). 

· Clinical supervision credential preferred, if applicable by state regulations. 

· Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in substance abuse and/or mental health treatment. 

· Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. 

· Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria, DSM-5, documentation standards, and regulatory compliance. 

· Experience in residential treatment settings preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. 

· Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. 

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

· Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems. 

· Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

· Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
