Job DetailsJob Location: Shavings Mill - Pageland, SC 29728Salary Range: $17.00 - $20.00 HourlyBagging Machine Operator Location: Shavings Mill – Pageland, SC Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Schedule: Monday to Friday – 12 Hour Shift Reports To: Shavings Plant Supervisor   Job Summary The Bagging Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining bagging equipment used to package wood shavings products. This position ensures finished products are packaged accurately, meet quality standards, and are prepared for storage or shipment according to production schedules. The operator works closely with production, maintenance, and shipping personnel to maintain efficient plant operations while adhering to all safety and quality requirements. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Equipment Operation Operate automated and semi-automated bagging machines and related equipment. Monitor machine settings, bag weights, and product flow to ensure accurate packaging. Start, stop, and adjust equipment as needed to maintain efficient production. Perform line changeovers and basic machine adjustments when required. Identify and report equipment malfunctions or performance issues. Product Quality Verify bag weights, labeling, and packaging quality meet company standards. Inspect finished products for defects, damaged bags, or contamination. Maintain accurate production and inventory records. Assist with quality control checks and corrective actions when needed. Material Handling Supply packaging materials to the production line. Remove finished pallets and stage products for storage or shipment. Operate forklifts or pallet jacks, if certified and authorized. Maintain continuous product flow to prevent downtime. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Participate in safety meetings and training programs. Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures and other plant safety requirements. Immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, or equipment concerns. Housekeeping & Maintenance Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards. Perform routine cleaning of bagging equipment and surrounding work areas. Assist with preventive maintenance activities as assigned. Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives. Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous manufacturing, production, agricultural, or industrial experience preferred. Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues. Strong attention to detail and quality standards. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Dependable attendance and strong work ethic. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and climbing stairs and ladders. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work in an open, non-climate controlled buildings and outside environment with dust, noise, heat, cold, and moving machinery. Must be able to safely wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and respiratory protection when required.
