Under the supervision of the Manager of Dietary Services, this position supports the preparation and delivery of meals for patients, staff, and visitors in a safe, timely, and compliant manner. The Nutritional Services Worker plays an essential role in patient care by ensuring accurate tray setup, maintaining food safety standards, and providing friendly and efficient service in both the kitchen and café settings. Experience working on a cook line is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Service Prepare food according to established menus and standardized recipes Assist with portion control and accurate tray setup for patient meals Support cook line operations as needed Deliver room service meals to patient rooms following hospital policies Support café operations including operating the cash register and taking orders Stock and prepare short-order items as needed Ensure meals are delivered timely and professionally Food Safety & Sanitation Track open and expiration dates on food items Ensure proper food storage and temperature controls (HACCP guidelines) Maintain hot foods at appropriate holding temperatures and cold foods at 40°F or below Monitor and document dish machine wash and rinse temperatures Maintain sanitary conditions of kitchen equipment, utensils, tray carriers, and preparation areas Clean, sanitize, and organize workstations before leaving assignments Follow universal precautions and infection prevention standards Department Operations Push/pull loaded tray carriers throughout the hospital Deliver and retrieve tray carriers before and after meals Maintain compliance with inventory, labeling, and storage benchmarks Cross-train to effectively perform Worker – EVS duties Assist with orientation of new staff members Cooperatively adapt during high-volume or crisis situations Join a Hospital That Feels Like Family – In a Town That Feels Like Home  Pagosa Springs Medical Center is an award-winning, independent Critical Access Hospital serving the residents and visitors of Archuleta County and the surrounding region.
