Core duties include fixing plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, along with painting, and general upkeep. They typically require technical skills, tool proficiency, and a high school diploma or equivalent.  Key Responsibilities Preventive Maintenance: Performing routine checks on HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure they run efficiently. Repairs: Fixing broken items, including walls, flooring, locks, windows, and light fixtures. Infrastructure Maintenance: Painting, cleaning, and landscaping, including, but not limited to, sidewalk, fence, and rooftop maintenance. System Diagnostics: Inspecting control panels, and mechanical systems to identify and troubleshoot issues. Safety Compliance: Ensuring all work meets safety standards, including fire safety inspections. Documentation & Inventory: Maintaining maintenance logs, recording tasks completed, and ordering supplies.  Common Job Titles General Maintenance Worker Required Skills and Qualifications Experience: Proven experience in a maintenance role, often with specialized knowledge in plumbing or electrical work. Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with tools (power tools, hand tools, testing devices) and the ability to read blueprints and manuals. Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy equipment, and work in various weather conditions. Troubleshooting: Strong diagnostic skills to identify root causes of equipment failures.
