Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a dynamic Electrical Engineer to pursue a career in our fast-paced company where new designs become production reality. As a member of our product development staff, you will lead and support electrical teams in the creation of new technological initiatives and advancements.

Essential Functions: 

  • Lead the design and development of digital hardware and mixed-signal technologies including FPGAs, ASICs, DSPs, processors, memory, and high-speed devices by applying advanced electrical engineering principles.
  • Drive all phases of digital hardware development by solving complex challenges in requirements analysis, detailed design, simulation, schematic capture, analysis, documentation, manufacturing, integration, and verification.
  • Analyze product and system-level requirements and translate them into detailed electrical specifications, ensuring design feasibility within time and cost constraints.
  • Develop conceptual designs and conduct trade studies to support bid and proposal efforts, as well as new business development opportunities.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with Technical and Program Leadership as well as cross-functional product development teams to deliver high-quality, reliable solutions and achieve engineering and business goals.
  • Analyze component tolerances and environmental factors to identify corner cases and ensure robust design margins for high reliability in harsh MIL-STD environments, including shock/vibration, temperature extremes, immersion, etc.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies for obsolescence, cost, and lead time challenges.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting and debugging activities for digital hardware, including circuit card assemblies (CCAs), modules, payloads, and system-level hardware, resolving issues down to the component level.
  • Utilize a variety of electronic laboratory instruments, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes (DSO, Mixed Signal), signal generators, DC power supplies, etc.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9 years prior experience, Graduate Degree with 7 years prior experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Previous Electrical Engineer experience

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance
  • Experience developing digital hardware within the defense, aerospace, medical, or other mission-critical industries.
  • Experience developing deliverable space-qualified hardware.
  • Experience with ECAD tools for digital design, including signal integrity analysis (Hyperlynx), circuit and timing analysis (LTSpice), and schematic capture and PCB Layout (Siemens Xpedition).
  • Experience with high-speed protocols, including 10/25 Gb Ethernet, PCI Express Gen 2/3/4 Fibre Channel, and other high-speed standards.
  • Experience integrating firmware/software with hardware and leading lab integration activities.
  • Experience serving as a subcontract technical representative, including evaluating supplier capabilities, generating SOWs and specifications for subcontracted items, and providing technical input and approval for third-party deliverables.
  • MATLAB, Python, or similar programming experience for digital design and analysis.
