As a Machine Operator you’ll set up, tend to and operate machines and related equipment which shape and form steel or other metals into parts or products. You will cross train in other complementary skills as needed to support production requirements.

What you’ll do:

  • Operate and set up one or more machines such as drill presses, milling machines, computer numerically controlled machines, hydraulic presses, spot welding and heat-treating ovens to perform repetitive operations Installs manufacturing fixtures and tooling.
  • Read and interpret specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine operation to be performed.
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers.
  • Monitor machines for proper operation.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment and replace parts as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of cell processes.
  • Cross train in other complementary skills and seek endorsements for skills as needed to support production requirements.
  • Move between production assignments that utilize multiple skill endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
  • Participate in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.
  • Observe all applicable safety requirements and immediately report any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ months of experience working with blueprints.
  • 6+ months of experience working with hand tools, power tools, and/or test equipment/machinery.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance.
  • Ability to stand for more than 4 hours per shift.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written.

 

Desired Skills: 

  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision.
  • Experience with use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems and other related internal control systems.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Team player attitude with a flexible approach towards assisting with duties outside work scope.
