Job Summary

The Sanitation Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Palmyra, PA. This position oversees daily sanitation operations to ensure all production areas, equipment, and tools are cleaned, sanitized, and maintained in compliance with food safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and directs sanitation staff, verifies proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, maintains sanitation records and documentation, GMPs, PPE use, and Pre-operational inspections.
  • Collaborates with production, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve sanitation issues, support audits, and implement continuous improvements.
  • Trains team members on sanitation procedures, safety practices, and hygiene standards, while helping to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Tracking and trending of environmental, deficiencies and chemical usage are also a required aspect of the position.

Education and Experience

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills, including team coordination, vendor communication, performance feedback, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure corrective actions are completed, documented and communicated.
  • Knowledge of food science and food safety and sanitation principles relevant to meat or food manufacturing environments.
  • Maintains supplies, allergen controls, chemical needs, contractor costs, and labor.
  • At least 5 Years Experience in food manufacturing operations, preferably in meat or ready-to-eat products, with familiarity in sanitation workflows.
  • Understanding HACCP, SQF, BRCC, GFSI or equivalent, GMPs, and regulatory requirements related to sanitation.
  • At least 5 Years Experience in training/coaching staff on sanitation procedures, safety practices, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to read and follow written procedures, maintain accurate records, and use basic computer systems for documentation (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, communication and commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to work on-site in a production environment, including standing for extended periods and handling cleaning equipment, chemicals, tools and materials.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training in food safety or sanitation is a plus.
  • At least 2 Years previous experience in a Supervisory role within a food production facility.

  • Proven track record in driving continuous sanitation improvement in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring sanitation budgets and programs.
  • Comfortable with being directly involved in a production environment.

  • Strong organizational, administrative and analytical skills - sound business judgment and a proactive approach to problem solving.

  • Able to troubleshoot issues, anticipate problems and make logical decisions.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) to maintain the facility
