Tech Lead Manager / Full Stack

Write production code and own architecture at a platform that has scaled 2,400% in three years. At $220K–$280K base + 5% equity, this role is for the engineer who is ready to lead without stepping back from the work.

What You'll Do

• Own architecture and delivery of full-stack features from ReactJS/TypeScript UIs to backend services, APIs, and distributed data pipelines, on a platform that enterprise workforce planning teams depend on every day.
  
• Design and build scalable data processing pipelines (batch and streaming) and distributed backend systems using PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kubernetes.
  
• Set the technical bar across the team: lead architecture reviews, own code quality and performance standards, drive CI/CD and TDD practices, and stay hands-on through the full software lifecycle including on-call.
  
• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers. Own hiring, career development, and day-to-day delivery. Partner with Product and Design to scope technical plans and communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to leadership.
  

What We Need

• 7+ years of hands-on software engineering with a strong full-stack background: modern frontend (React, TypeScript) and backend (Ruby, Python, or Node.js); proven experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale with RESTful APIs, PostgreSQL, and cloud-native architecture (Kubernetes, containerization, microservices).
  
• 2+ years of engineering management or tech lead experience with direct reports, mentorship, and team-level delivery ownership. You lead engineers, you are still writing production code, and you make pragmatic, business-aware decisions in a fast-moving startup environment.
  
• Solid engineering fundamentals across the full lifecycle: testing (Jest, Cypress, or React Testing Library), code review, CI/CD, TDD, design documentation, and performance monitoring. Deep frontend fluency in component architecture, state management, performance, and accessibility.
  

You translate complex technical concepts clearly for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong advantage: React Native for mobile development; experience with Redis, Apache Pinot, or real-time analytics infrastructure; background in AI/ML systems or data pipeline orchestration; early-stage startup experience from Seed to Series C.

Schedule & Compensation

$220,000 – $280,000 base salary + 5% equity + competitive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage. Hybrid schedule with Bay Area on-site presence and remote flex.
