This role is integral to creating a supportive and vibrant community where residents can thrive. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and execute a diverse range of activities tailored to the needs and abilities of residents with memory impairments. - Collaborate with the care team to assess individual resident interests and capabilities, ensuring personalized activity plans. - Facilitate group and one-on-one activities that encourage socialization, physical movement, and mental engagement. - Monitor and document resident participation and progress, adjusting activities as necessary to maximize benefits. - Maintain a safe and welcoming environment, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines. - Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to foster a collaborative and supportive atmosphere. - Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in memory care activities, incorporating innovative approaches into programming. - Assist in planning and organizing special events and outings that enhance the overall experience for residents. QualificationsRequired Education: - High school diploma or equivalent. A degree or certification in gerontology, recreational therapy, or a related field is preferred. Required Experience: - Minimum of 1 year experience working with seniors, particularly in a memory care or dementia-focused environment. - Proven track record in planning and implementing engaging activities tailored to individuals with memory impairments. - Experience in collaborating with healthcare professionals and families to develop personalized activity plans. Required Skills and Abilities: - Strong understanding of dementia and other cognitive impairments, including the ability to recognize and address the unique needs of individuals with these conditions. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate residents in a compassionate and patient manner. - Creative and resourceful in developing activities that promote cognitive stimulation, social interaction, and physical activity. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment. - Proficiency in documenting activity plans and outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
