The School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) supports students in developing the skills necessary for academic success and participation in the school environment. This role focuses on improving fine motor, sensory processing, self-care, and functional skills to help students access their educational program.

Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Provide occupational therapy services to students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students’ functional needs
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals
- Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, behavior teams, and related service providers
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and progress reporting
- Provide consultation and training to school staff on strategies to support student success
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including service logs and progress reports
- Support students with sensory regulation, fine motor skills, handwriting, and daily living skills
- Adapt classroom materials and environments to meet student needs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines
Required Skills/Abilities:Â
- Ability to move, lift, and position students as needed
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Fine motor skills for documentation and therapy activities
- Experience with sensory integration techniques
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment
- Ability to manage caseloads and prioritize tasks effectively
Education/Experience & Other Requirements
- Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist
- Experience working in a school or pediatric setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of special education laws, including Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Working Environment:Â
- School-based settings (elementary, middle, or high school)
- May require travel between school sites within the Paramount School District
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
