Position Summary
The pharmacy technician position plays an integral role in medication delivery through automated dispensing cabinet workflows, sterile and non-sterile compounding and quality assurance for all medications delivered in the facility.
Essential Functions
- Prepares intravenous solutions and admixtures in accordance to USP requirements, state, federal, and other regulatory requirements or standards

- Assists in filling prescriptions and fills automated dispensing cabinet accurately
- Assists in filling prescriptions and fills automated dispensing cabinet accurately
- Prepares select reports and files appropriately as directed by departmental, local, state, and/or federal requirements.
- Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies in correct designated areas
- Assists the pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care for patients ranging in age from newborn to the elderly
- Promptly prepares medications and proactively plans for normal operational and individual patient usage with minimal direction from pharmacist.
- Maintains the Pharmaceutical Services Department in a clean and orderly manner
- Performs other pharmacy-related duties as requested or required
- Demonstrates ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filing various prescriptions ranging from the newborn to the elderly populations
- Demonstrates ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral and diagram form
- Performs assigned training activities, competencies, or learning activities successfully and by assigned deadline
- Maintains professional, helpful and courteous relationship within the department and with other departments. Demonstrates ability to handle interpersonal conflict utilizing Language of Caring behaviors or utilizing chain of command appropriately
Ā Qualifications
- Active pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician in training license
- Sterile compounding certification (preferred)
- Possesses at least 1 year of inpatient hospital experience (preferred)
- Omnicell and Meditech experience (preferred)
