The Snowboard or Ski Coach will be a vital member of the Progression team at Woodward Park City, reporting to both the Instructional Program Supervisor and the Zone Coach Supervisor. The successful applicant will motivate and educate guests in various action sports, with a primary focus on skiing, skateboarding, BMX, trampoline, snoboarding and tumbling.  

 

The Woodward Park City Coach works directly with guests, promoting snow sports and action sports by providing safe, enjoyable, and practical training and instruction sessions. Responsibilities include teaching individuals of all ages and ability levels, and creating appropriate skill progressions tailored to each person's capabilities. This encompasses progressions in both the Woodward Hub and the Woodward Park City Mountain. Above all, safety, enjoyment, and innovative learning remain the top priorities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Teach beginners to advanced Snowboard or Ski lessons.  

  • Teach group and private lessons, classes, day camps, and special events  

  • Teach Safety Training in all areas   

  • Inform and enforce all safety rules and policies, including wearing helmets, PARK SMART, ATML, etc.  

  • Create lesson plans and skill progressions.  

  • Provide general instruction and safety oversight during daily sessions in zones.  

  • Proactively always engage with participants.  

  • Ability to break skills down into easily definable steps  

  • Understand multiple action sports, including snowboarding, skiing, skateboarding, BMX, parkour, and mountain. Bike, scooter, cheer, etc.  

  • Communicate well with supervisors, co-workers, and guests  

  • Communicate well with kids and parents from all backgrounds  

  • Be active in attending coaching clinics, spotting clinics, and additional training, and possibly lead clinics in your expertise  

  • Be a part of a unique team, set a positive example, and be a role model  

  • Set up and tear down the Winter sports lesson areas  

  • Help maintain the cleanliness and functionality of all Woodward Park City sports facilities, including foam pits, skateparks, progression park, etc.  
    Other duties as assigned  

  • Must be 18 years old or older.  

   

Preferred Skills:  

  • Understanding snow and action sports tricks, progressions, and terminology, and/or experience working on trampolines or in gymnastics.  

  • Experience working with children, teens, and adults  

  • Experience working in a camp setting  

  • Instructor, coach, or teaching certification preferred (PSIA, AASI, or USASA)  

  • First Aid/CPR Certification preferred  

  • Proven ability to collaborate well across functions and departments, work as part of a team, and lead teams in achieving goals.
