Major Responsibilities: Performs Computerized Tomography procedures according to the policies, procedures and department requirements set up by the Medical Director of Cat Scan and the Manager. Performs as required, any post processing or required reconstructions specified by the department protocol. Performs service recover and escalates patient concerns to coordinator, Supervisor or Manager if necessary. Obtains pertinent patient history and other relevant information, documents information on correct forms and ensures that documentation is complete and signed. Performs required Radiology Information System functions. Responsible for charging of patient exams, completion of exam workflow and verifying study information for interpretation by a radiologist. Starts IV’s for patients following the guidelines set up by the radiology department. Administers contrast material as prescribed by a Radiologist. Monitors patient condition during procedure. Maintains appropriate inventory and checks all dates on supplies. Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the event of code blue. Notifies Radiologist when emergency medical help is needed. (i.e. contrast reactions and respiratory distress) Performs quality assurance tests on all CT equipment. Maintains clean room and equipment. Maintains a well supplied biopsy cart. Schedules patients when necessary and hands out patient prep for CT examination. Assist in orienting new associates and training personnel on new Radiology systems or equipment when installed. Education/Experience Required: 12-24 months experience in radiology. Graduate of Radiologic Technology program. 1 hour annually in stroke care Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Knowledge of principles of CT Knowledge of equipment Knowledge of anatomy ARRT Registration IDNS License CPR Certification IV Certification within 3 months of date of hire CT Registration within 1 year of date of hire Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Able to work with all types of behaviors and people. Able to work on short notice. Flexible in starting times. Willing to work overtime when needed. As required must be able to lift, move and transport patients. May be exposed to ionizing radiation and infectious disease. If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent.
