Maintenance Assistant

We’re seeking a hands-on Maintenance Assistant to support building systems and resident safety in our Long‑Term Care community. The ideal candidate brings strong painting, floor cleaning and plumbing skills, a proactive approach to life safety compliance, and strong critical thinking to solve issues quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Maintenance: Minor electrical, carpentry, painting, and grounds as needed; vendor coordination and escorting.
  • Plumbing: Maintain hot water systems, mixing valves, and water temperatures; troubleshoot toilets/flush valves, floor drains, and grease traps.
  • Life Safety Compliance: Support fire/life safety systems (e.g., drills, extinguishers, egress, emergency lighting) and documentation per regulatory standards.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Execute PM schedules for building systems and equipment; track work orders and parts.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2-3+ years in facility maintenance; healthcare/LTC/senior living preferred.
  • Compliance: Familiarity with life safety and environmental standards for healthcare settings.
  • Soft Skills: Strong critical thinking, sound judgment, urgency, and communication.
  • Nice to Have: Boiler license, EPA 608, basic electrical knowledge.
  • Other: Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background and pre-employment checks.

Physical & Work Conditions

  • Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.; frequent walking, bending, and ladder work.
  • Work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and tight spaces; occasional after-hours/on‑call support.
