RN Unit Manager

The RN Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the clinical, operational, and administrative functions of an assigned nursing unit within the long‑term care facility. This role ensures high‑quality resident care, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination with the interdisciplinary care team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate resident care on the assigned unit in accordance with care plans, physician orders, and facility policies
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs
  • Conduct resident assessments, monitor changes in condition, and initiate appropriate interventions
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation and care planning
  • Participate in admissions, discharges, transfers, and interdisciplinary care conferences
  • Manage unit staffing needs in collaboration with nursing leadership
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff performance
  • Promote infection prevention, resident safety, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Address resident and family concerns professionally and promptly
  • Assist with survey preparation, audits, and maintenance of regulatory compliance
  • Uphold residents’ rights, dignity, and person‑centered care at all times

Required Qualifications

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in Ohio
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a long‑term care or skilled nursing setting
  • Previous charge nurse, supervisory, or unit‑based leadership experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of state, federal, and CMS long‑term care regulations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Prior participation in survey processes and quality assurance initiatives
  • Experience in a unionized environment (if applicable)
