Commercial Analyst Physical Gasoline & Distillate

 

PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are seeking a talented Commercial Analyst Physical Gasoline & Distillate to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy. This role would be located onsite at our Company headquarters in Parsippany, NJ.

The Commercial Analyst will support the physical gasoline and distillate trading business by analyzing system position, exposures, and P&L drivers across supply, blending, storage, and distribution. This role supports traders to provide timely, actionable feedback on commercial performance and risk.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and evaluate system position for gasoline and distillate across locations, grades, and time periods
  • Analyze daily and monthly P&L, identifying drivers including changes in basis differentials, structure, blending economics, freight, quality, and inventory effects
  • Provide direct, trader-facing feedback on position performance and execution results
  • Support management of length/short exposure, inventory positions, and timing risk
  • Reconcile physical movements, inventories, and hedges to ensure accurate position and P&L reporting
  • Analyze location spreads, prompt structure, and logistics constraints impacting physical barrels
  • Support prompt-month close and explain P&L versus expectations
  • Identify system or data issues impacting position accuracy, escalate, and prosecute remedy as needed
  • Work closely with scheduling, operations, risk, and accounting teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience in refined products trading support, commercial analytics, or risk
  • Strong understanding of gasoline and distillate physical economics, including basis, freight, blending, and inventory impacts
  • Solid grasp of physical P&L mechanics and hedged positions
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with trading/scheduling systems preferred
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, trader-facing environment
  • This position is on site 5 days a week

The salary range for this position is $88,424.81-$145,780.03. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law.  Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate’s compensation.  Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases. In addition to salary, PBF offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes bonus eligibility, health care, retirement benefits, and paid time off.
