Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Construction Inspector with pipeline experience to support our growing infrastructure projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring quality assurance and compliance on water and wastewater construction projects, with a focus on underground utilities and pipeline installation.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct field inspections to verify that contractor work—particularly pipeline installation and related underground infrastructure—meets project plans, specifications, and quality standards.

Prepare daily inspection reports, including written documentation and photo logs.

Support material testing and special inspection activities related to pipeline systems.

Review contractor submittals and as-built drawings for pipeline alignment, materials, and installation methods.

Monitor compliance with regulatory and permitting requirements, including SWPPP.

Support pipeline testing, flushing, and commissioning activities.

Participate in progress meetings and coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Work under the supervision of the Construction Manager (CM), Resident Engineer, or Lead Inspector.
Qualifications:Â

Education & Experience: Technical school certificate or degree preferred, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience inspecting water/wastewater infrastructure, with a focus on pipelines.

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of pipeline construction methods, trench safety, alignment, and backfill. Familiarity with construction drawings, specs, and applicable codes.

Software Proficiency: Microsoft Office, inspection reporting tools, and photo documentation.

Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Fieldwork includes exposure to weather, uneven terrain, construction noise, and potential hazards.

Must adhere to safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Hourly Pay Rate: Anticipated at $50.00/hour and may vary based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and location. Many of our California public works projects are subject to prevailing wage, often exceeding base pay.
