Human Resources Generalist

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic HR team at IABA. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping HR operations while working closely with Service and Operational Directors to drive organizational goals and measurable results.

This position is fully on-site at our Pasadena, CA office. Remote or hybrid work is not available.

Position Summary:

The HR Generalist understands the high level of professionalism and confidentiality required in HR and payroll operations. This role requires knowledge, experience, and initiative to support a wide range of HR functions in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

The ideal candidate will interact directly with leadership, support employee relations, ensure compliance, and contribute to a positive and productive workplace culture.

Responsibilities: HR Operations & Administration
  • Manage day-to-day HR functions, including employee records and HRIS data accuracy
  • Assist with audits, file cleanup projects, and documentation management
  • Maintain digital and physical employee and termination files
  • Ensure all employee paperwork is completed, filed, and compliant
Benefits & Leave Administration
  • Administer employee benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k, etc.)
  • Manage LOA, FMLA, and Workers’ Compensation processes
  • Audit employee eligibility and provide benefits-related support
Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (including DLSE regulations)
  • Prepare reports and respond to EDD/DLSE claims
  • Maintain compliance postings and documentation
Employee Relations & Performance Management
  • Address employee concerns and support conflict resolution
  • Conduct investigations, coaching sessions, and termination meetings
  • Ensure performance reviews are completed on schedule
  • Partner with Directors to implement HR policies and procedures
Communication & Culture
  • Respond to HR inquiries within 24–48 hours
  • Send company-wide communications (policy updates, reminders, announcements)
  • Promote a positive workplace culture and high employee morale
  • Participate in company events and team initiatives
Recruiting & Onboarding Support
  • Assist with resume screening, phone interviews, and scheduling interviews
  • Conduct reference checks and support hiring decisions
  • Send offer letters and candidate communications in a timely manner
  • Ensure completion of new hire onboarding documentation
  • Support job postings and maintain relationships with platforms like Indeed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 2–3+ years of HR Generalist experience (LOA/FMLA strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, payroll regulations, and best practices
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (ADP preferred; Dayforce a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and tools like Trello or Workable
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed
  • Ability to move throughout the office (walking, standing, bending, kneeling)
