Job Description:
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*
- Provide adapted physical education instruction to meet student needs and goals as specified on the IEP. In physical fitness, gross motor skills, perceptual motor skills, and sports and games achievement
- Provide individualized assessment and instruction in neuromotor development, gross motor skills and abilities, physical fitness, games and sports, and other recreation and leisure activities
- Provide consultation and training to parents and staff regarding adapted physical education techniques
- Document student progress and present levels of performance by standardized, formal, curriculum-based, anecdotal and/or teacher made assessments
- Seek technical assistance and consultation as needed from colleagues, program support specialists, and Special Education Leadership Team
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of student
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community
- Ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS Degree
- Valid California Teaching Credential in Adapted Physical Education
