Your challenge:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Automation Technician will work closely with the Project Manager to commission (using PLC based control and HMI), troubleshoot, repair, and program control systems for Marine HVAC for Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems installed in large marine vessels.

The incumbent will play an important role as part of the Bronswerk Marine US team to act as company “expert” in Electrical Systems during installation, set to work (commissioning), troubleshooting, repairing and programming control systems in vessels.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for end-to-end testing, downloading programming, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects.
  • Performing quality checks of the control panel assemblies including point to point testing, torque checks, and cable size validation.
  • Provides input to the project manager on forecast of schedule for commissioning.
  • Red line drawings and submit to the Automation & Controls Manager.
  • Troubleshoot PLC programming to comply with the approved control philosophy (sequence of operation).
  • Troubleshoot HMI pages during start-up.
  • Checking the calibration of system sensors and transmitters.
  • Filling out commissioning documentation.
  • Works closely with other teams such as Refrigeration and/or HVAC projects teams to start-up various HVAC-R systems.
  • Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear, and conditions.

What do you bring to the role?

  • 5 years + of experience in HVAC/Controls; or equivalent combination of education (Technical School)
  • Industrial Electrician or other equivalent Electrical trade (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with various PLC, Industrial controls systems, and HMI’s
  • Familiar or have a strong interest in HVAC Systems (Fans, pumps, AHU’s, Chillers & Refrigeration systems)
  • Experience in drawing panel layouts in AutoCAD Electric (or other software) – an asset
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills
  • Licensed electrician in US - an asset
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 60%

Location

This role will require travel to different worksites in the United States.
