Job Title: C5ISR Senior Project Engineer

Location: Pascagoula, MS, US

Position Overview

The C5ISR Senior Project Engineer – Network and Navigation Systems oversees the design, integration, and maintenance of shipboard network and navigation systems that support Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cybersecurity, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) operations.  The position reports directly to the C5ISR Engineering Manager within the C5ISR Project Engineering Office.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead a diverse team of C5ISR electrical engineers and designers, ensuring the successful progression of assigned work.
  • Communicate effectively with Project Engineering, Supply Chain Management, and production personnel to meet program requirements and project schedules.
  • Oversee departmental goals and performance within the C5ISR engineering team.

Design & Development

  • Develop system integration plans for network and navigation systems for C5ISR platforms, including but not limited to internal data communications networks, external communications systems, video surveillance systems, and navigation systems.
  • Review and comment on sub-contractor design documents. Propose and implement programs to resolve design deficiencies.

System Integration

  • Integrate C5ISR systems with other subsystems, ensuring compatibility and seamless operation across platforms.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of C5ISR systems in lab and field environments.
  • Ensure systems meet required performance standards and regulatory requirements 

Maintenance & Upgrades

  • Oversee the planning and execution of system upgrades and modernization. Prepare and review technical documentation, including specifications, technical manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Write detailed reports and provide recommendations for system improvements.

 

 

Project Management

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on C5ISR projects.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and technical milestones.
  • Provide regular inputs to the Control Account Manager (CAM) for C5ISR projects, ensuring accuracy and continuous improvement in:
    • Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
    • Requirements Traceability Verification Matrix (RTVM) inputs

Compliance & Testing

  • Ensure C5ISR designs comply with industry standards, Military Specifications, safety regulations, and project requirement documents.
  • Oversee integration and testing of CFE and GFE C5ISR systems in the Production Integration Facility and aboard ship.

Problem Solving

  • Identify and resolve complex electrical and C5ISR systems engineering challenges.
  • Apply advanced engineering principles to enhance reliability and performance in harsh environments.

Desired Qualifications

  • Shipyard and/or shipboard experience.
  • Specific experience with network system design in general.
  • Military shipboard systems such as CANES LAN, HM&E LAN, Moriah Wind System, and Navigation Networks.
  • Experience with commercial and military GPS systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: 
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field or computer science
  • Experience:
    • 5 to 10+ years of C4ISR, C5ISR, C6ISR experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Familiarity with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, PSpice).
Ability to read and interpret electrical designs, blueprints, and drawings.
