Job DetailsJob Location: Pasco Office 071,024-09 - Pasco, WA 99301Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $33.00 - $38.00 HourlySCOPE: The Assistant Operations Supervisor/Manager is responsible for supporting all phases of plant operations, including safety, logistics (drivers/dispatch), maintenance, compliance, and training. This person will work closely with drivers, warehouse staff, dispatch, operations support, sales, and vendors to increase productivity and profitability within the Commercial Division of Christensen. This person must have experience with best practices in both managerial and operational platforms, as well as transportation logistics. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager. SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist the Plant Manager by providing leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility. Review schedules for all drivers to ensure they are operating at the highest efficiency possible. Assist with training all drivers in established procedures and best practices. Assist with monitoring operating expenses and researching ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality. Support and implement company safety policies to ensure a safe workplace for all employees. Maintain and support a superior safety, compliance, and housekeeping program. Assist the Plant Manager in analyzing workforce requirements. Provide coaching and guidance to all site employees. Encourage and promote a continuous improvement environment. Assist the Plant Manager in removing production constraints; recommend allocating human and equipment resources to attain all established goals. Support company growth initiatives and model excellent customer service standards. Assist with recruiting and retaining quality drivers. QUALIFICATIONS Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, electronic delivery systems, and ELDs. Broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies. Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and basic coaching skills. Demonstrated ability to motivate people and assess and develop employee skills. Demonstrated understanding of the principles and Core Values of Christensen. Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs. Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability. A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible. Strong analytical and decision-making skills. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations as they pertain to transporting hazardous materials. Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment. Ability to work well with a variety of departments, including the plant office, delivery drivers, sales, vendors, and customers. REQUIREMENTS Class A CDL with Tanker and HAZMAT endorsements. TWIC card preferred. Forklift certified. Previous experience with bulk petroleum delivery. Warehousing experience preferred. Management or supervisory experience. Logistics/dispatch experience. Demonstrated excellent internal and external customer service. Previous experience with electronic delivery platforms and ELD systems. Mechanical skills—ability to diagnose issues, use tools, and perform preventative maintenance. Flexibility due to seasonality and growth initiatives. Strong verbal communication, computer, and handwriting skills. PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS Outdoor environment in extreme weather conditions Ability to lift 75+ lbs Regular exposure to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow), fumes, dust and odors Able to dig, climb and access confined spaces. Extended and on call hours required at times to support business requirements, including some weekends and holidays. PPE requirements including steel toes boots, hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, gloves, ear protection, and cold protection.
