Job Summary

The Fertilizer Production Lead is responsible for overseeing processing operations and requires comprehensive knowledge of all plant activities to effectively train, coach, and direct staff. The Lead plays a crucial role in maintaining production operations, managing product flow to meet schedules, and ensuring overall plant efficiency and quality standards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee and manage fertilizer production operations
  • Perform, monitor, and document hourly quality checks
  • Coordinate morning equipment startup ensuring production equipment and machinery are in proper working order.
  • Manage product flow to meet schedules and customer specifications and deadlines.
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot sitewide machinery
  • Ensure equipment cleanliness and readiness for quality inspections
  • Fill in for all production positions where needed. Knowledgeable in word document, excel and data entry
  • Train, coach, and mentor employees in various plant positions
  • Communicate effectively with production manager to minimize downtime and maintain equipment integrity.
  • Enforce and follow safety rules and policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant experience with 4+ years in bulk product production or fertilizer production
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to drive forklifts, front end loaders and compost row turner
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., twist, bend, and work in various climate conditions
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends and holiday hours as required based on production demand

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Experience with fertilizer and chemical safety procedures

Work Environment

This position operates in a fertilizer production plant environment, involving exposure to various temperatures, including extreme heat and cold. The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, as well as the ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects. The Processing Lead must be comfortable working with production equipment and adhering to strict regulatory protocols. The job may involve shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet production demands.
