Job Description:

Responsible for providing guidance, explaining policies, and helping to secure the necessary funding for students to attend college. Responsibilities include:

Responsibilities:

  • Guide students and parents(families) through the financial aid process, including the completion of relevant forms such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Inform and educate students and parents (families) about different types of financial aid available, such as scholarships, grants, and loans
  • Communicate with students about their financial aid package and any adjustments that may occur
  • Assist students with loan applications, entrance and exit counseling, and debt management
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies and regulations
  • Coordinate with other departments in the institution, including the admissions and registrar’s offices, to ensure accuracy in student records
  • Help students understand the implications of their financial decisions, promoting responsible borrowing
  • Responds to all student communication (email/phone calls) within 24 to 48 hours
  • Conduct scheduled appointments with new and continuing students
  • Conduct financial aid presentations and workshops for prospective and current students

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in financial aid counseling or a related field is preferred

Conditions of Employment:

  • May require evening and weekend work.
