Front Desk Receptionist

Schedule:
Monday-Saturday, approximately 40 hours per week. Employees who work Saturday will receive a weekday off.

Position Summary

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Front Desk Receptionist to be the first point of contact for our patients. In this role, you will greet patients with professionalism and compassion while ensuring an efficient check-in and check-out experience. You will be responsible for verifying patient information, processing payments, scheduling appointments, maintaining accurate records, and supporting communication between patients, providers, and clinical staff.

What You'll Do

  • Welcome and check in patients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Update, verify, and accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information using multiple medical software systems.
  • Complete the patient registration process by reviewing documentation for accuracy and obtaining any missing information.
  • Prepare paperwork for patient appointments.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits as needed.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, coinsurance, past-due balances, and other applicable fees.
  • Answer patient questions regarding billing, payment arrangements, and account status, or direct complex issues to the appropriate team member.
  • Monitor patient flow and communicate schedule updates or concerns to clinical staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, guests, providers, and back-office staff.
  • Reconcile daily cash collections and payment reports.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Create, maintain, organize, and file patient charts and medical records.
  • Perform general administrative duties, including copying, scanning, faxing, filing, and document management.
  • Complete the patient check-out process, ensuring all required forms are completed and medical records are updated.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked front desk and waiting area.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills with a professional and positive attitude.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn multiple software applications.

Preferred

  • Previous receptionist, front desk, customer service, call center, or high-volume telephone experience.
  • Experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is a plus but not required.
