JOB SUMMARY
The Class A Mechanic works without guidance in a shop or field capacity. Capable of independent diagnostics for equipment lines carried to include electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, engine, transmission, drivetrain & computer software knowledge. Can use and understands all diagnostic tools available to them. Can independently repair all types of mechanical, engine, transmission, drivetrain, hydraulic, and electrical issues. Can perform most basic types of MIG and stick welding and cutting. Ability to use all computers and test equipment associated with the product line the company carries.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Employee must have the ability to speak and work well with customers and co-work workers a like.
- Employee possesses the ability to communicate, diagnosis and repair during and at completion of service or repair with customers and co-workers.
- Employee possesses the ability to promote a friendly work environment.
- Employee can demonstrate and operate all types of equipment, is highly skilled and experienced in maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and rebuilding of one of the more complicated types of equipment, and components.
- Employee requires minimal immediate supervision for the successful performance of their duties.
- Employee can perform all types of fabricating, oxyacetylene welding, cutting and electric arc welding in all positions with special reference to maintenance and repair of heavy-duty construction equipment.
- Employee shall possess the necessary abilities to complete all paperwork completely and efficiently.
- Employee is capable of looking up and ordering all parts necessary to complete the repairs needed for each job.
- Employee is capable of taking all necessary photos, texting, emailing and uploading to work orders for warranty repairs.
- Employee is capable of steam cleaning and detailing equipment as needed.
- Employee is willing to attend a minimum of 80 hours of training on annual as needed basis provided by the company.
- This Class “A” position also requires working in the field on an as needed basis.
- Adherence to work scheduled hours and overtime as needed.
- Employee is willing assist other class technicians.
- Employee is willing to perform other various tasks as needed.
Mandatory training requirements:
- MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration)
- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)
- Forklift Certification.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / ATTRIBUTES
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues using diagnostic tools and software.
- Experience with maintenance and repair of engines, transmissions, drivetrain, hydraulic systems and electrical/computer systems on heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with team members and clients.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy parts and equipment.
- Availability to work flexible hours and weekends as needed.
- Ability to read work orders.
- Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, climb and squat to perform repairs and inspections; talk and hear; perform fine motor, hand, and finger skills in the use of tools, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds; Ability to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
